Health Specialist – Malaria (NO-C)
UNICEF Myanmar is seeking to recruit a dynamic, motivated and committed individual to provide support in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Malaria project within the Health and Nutrition sector.
Under the supervision of the Child Survival & Development Specialist (L4), the incumbent will carry out the following tasks:-
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design, prepare, implement, monitor and evaluate assigned Malaria project; analyzes and evaluate data to ensure achievement of objectives and/or take corrective action when necessary to meet project objectives. Contribute to the development and/or introduction of new approaches, methods and practices in project management and evaluation;
• Undertake field visits to monitor the Malaria project and conduct periodic project reviews with government counterparts and other partners. Propose and/or undertake actions on operational procedures affecting project management and implementation. Provide technical advice and assistance to government officials and other partners in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project;
• Prepare sectoral documents for the Country Programme Document CPD) and Project Plans of Action (PPA), Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP), sectoral work plans and contribute in preparing other programme documents, as required;
• Participate in inter-sectoral collaboration with other programme colleagues. Assist in development of appropriate communication and information strategy to support and/or advocate programme development;
• Meet with national and international agencies of Malaria projects and participate in meetings with relevant ministries for project review, and follow up on implementation of recommendations and agreements;
• Assist government authorities in planning and organizing training programmes, identify training needs and objectives for the purpose of capacity building, programme sustainability, as well as promotion and advocacy.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES required to perform the duties of the post:
• Advanced University degree in Social Sciences or related technical field, preferably in Public Health;
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional work experience in programme management, monitoring and evaluation, in the field of Malaria.
• Knowledge of the latest developments and technology in the field of Malaria.
• Analytical, negotiating, communication and advocacy skills.
• Documentation and report writing skills.
• Supervisory and managerial skills as well as leadership and teamwork abilities.
• Fluency in Myanmar and English.
• Knowledge of computer software applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships, both within and outside the organization.
